Learning Objectives: A description of current ultrasound imaging technology used for static tissue imaging will be provided. The update will include electronic components for beam focusing and steering, receive focusing, multi-zone focusing, time-gain compensation (TGC), post processing techniques, and other subjects related to B-mode image productions. The discussion will include numerical simulations of sound propagation, beam forming, and other effects on beam shape. Recent trends and directions of imaging development will be reviewed.
