Abstract:

One benefit of wireless technology is that it allows physicians and personnel to get closer to the patient

One benefit of wireless technology is that it allows physicians and personnel to get closer to the patient. Physicians can have ready access to patient records, histories and drug-interaction data using wireless technologies, as well as enter diagnoses, prescriptions and orders for tests into a PDA, which will eliminate a significant paperwork burden. Staff can use wireless-technology to complete patient admissions records on the spot. Additionally, medical institutions are beginning to implement plans to transmit patient data to multiple medical facilities.

As well as discuss the benefits that this revolutionized healthcare industry brings, Cowens will also go over the ethical and technical questions regarding patient privacy and security.
