Learning Objectives: 1) Describe the classic presentation and sonography of acute appendicitis, both before and following appendiceal rupture. 2) Document alternate diagnoses, particularly in women of child-bearing age, of gastrointestinal, gynecologic, and peritoneal origin. 3) Present the optimal technique for evaluation of the right lower quadrant including the use of compression sonography and transvaginal scan in all women with unexplained symptomatology.
