The IHE initiative is designed to encourage the adoption of standards-based integration solutions in healthcare institutions.  IHE Integration Profiles define standards-based solutions to specific clinical integration needs, providing a framework for connecting best-of-breed systems in a multi-vendor environment.

These sessions will provide a forum for representatives of institutions that have used IHE in acquiring and implementing integrated systems to give accounts of their experience.  They will describe the process of using IHE to plan integration, identify the integration capabilities of specific products, specify integration needs to vendors in the acquisition process and implement and test integrated systems.  They will discuss the clinical benefits provided by integrating systems via IHE, where possible providing benchmarks for performance.

1. Learn about a selection of integration projects at institutions that have successfully implemented IHE capabilities; 2. Understand implementation challenges and clinical issues that IHE can be used to address; and 3. Provide insight on the state of integration at a selection of institutions worldwide
