Abstract:

Healthcare workers are highly mobile clinicians that are always on the move

Healthcare workers are highly mobile clinicians that are always on the move.  They travel between corridors, rooms, floors, offices, and institutions.  They have unique requirements for devices that move with them and provide rapid access to information at the point of care, wherever that may be.

Wireless technology has made it possible for physician’s and healthcare workers to check lab results en route to a patient’s room, to review a patient’s record while having a cup of coffee, all while improving efficiency, productivity, and ultimately the bottom line.

Some industry analysts believe administrative costs could be cut substantially by moving from a paper-based system to a coordinated and integrated digital system.  The Toshiba Tablet PC, with integrated WiFi has given healthcare workers the opportunity to become un-tethered and improve patient care.  The Toshiba Tablet PC incorporates the intuitive fusion of pen and paper into a notebook experience.  The lightweight design holds like a medical chart and the dual-action swivel easily guides through Notebook and Tablet PC modes.  Healthcare workers would benefit from having instant access to vital patient information, including lab reports and electronic medical records, available at the point-of-care on the Toshiba Tablet PC.
